In the early days of Ouray, there were two unusual women that owned businesses in Ouray. They were unusual because they ran their own businesses in Ouray. One woman who had a business in Ouray was Kitty Heit. She owned the St. Elmo Hotel and Bon Ton restaurant. Kitty built Bon Ton in 1886. Kitty was loved by many, most were miners. Kitty’s price per night for a room was $1.50 for tourists and $1.00 for regular boarders, like miners. Many people grieved over Kitty’s death in 1915. She died of a heart attack. Another was named Marie Flor. She owned then Western Hotel from 1916 to 1946. Marie Flor was a very caring and loving person. That’s why many people called her Mother Flor. Her hotel was also used to let miners stay. Marie’s son was named “Tuffy”. He was the local coroner. These women made a difference in the historic times of Ouray.

That was a really good paragraph. I wish we could still get a hotel room for $1.50.
